Is “SNL” new tonight (April 8, 2023)? YES. The Saturday night premiere of NBC’s late-night sketch comedy programme features musical performer Jonas Brothers and host Molly Shannon. The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member, who previously appeared on the show from 1995 to 2001, is making her second return. The “Superstar” actress Shannon instructs the Jonas Brothers in how to scent their underarms in the advertising video for the album (see it above).

Season 48 of “Saturday Night Live” will feature the following regular cast members, listed in the order of their appearances in the credits: Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Punkie Johnson, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson, and Bowen Yang. Marcello Hernandez, James Austin Johnson, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, Sarah Sherman, and Devon Walker are the players highlighted. (Cecily Strong only made an appearance in six episodes this season because she had to miss the first three because of a theatrical show. The December 17 broadcast was also her final one.)
Because of the significant cast changes this season has seen, showrunner Lorne Michaels has dubbed it a “transition year.” Eight celebrities, including Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Kyle Mooney, Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseor, Aristotle Athari, and Chris Redd, quit their jobs during the summer. Many of them had intended to go sooner, but the Covid-19 pandemic kept them from leaving.

Colin Jost and Michael Che will once more host “Saturday Night Live’s” Weekend Update, as they have done every week since September 2014. They had been the show’s longest-running duo since its 47th season, which concluded last year.
The variety show became the most successful programme in Television Academy history after taking home 93 awards overall at the 2022 Emmy Awards. For sake of comparison, “Game of Thrones,” which had 59 Emmy nominations, came in second.
